Quality Control PLUS

To help insure product integrity, HYDRON Technologies goes beyond industry standards by performing a series of quality assurance tests on each approved formulation, as well as each and every production batch…all in an effort to protect your brand name. -
ACCELERATED SHELF LIFE to indicate the reaction of a formulation over an extended period of time, typically indicating results of two and three year shelf life. Samples are evaluated for precipitation, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, color and aroma
-
ELEVATED TEMPERATURE STABILITY determines the stability of a formulation when exposed to elevated temperatures of up to 115°F for a minimum period of 72 hours. An important issue when a shipment or storage facility may be exposed to extreme summer temperatures.
- FREEZE/THAW STABILITY determines the low temperature stability through a minimum of three freeze/thaw cycles at temperatures of -23°C to - 26°C (-10°F to -15°F). Another key concern when a shipment or storage facility may be exposed to freezing winter temperatures.
- MICROBIAL CHALLENGE TEST Preservatives are one of the key irritants in topical formulations, but necessary to protect the integrity of a product. Since many factors can compromise the effectiveness of a preservative system, this critical test challenges the effectiveness of a formulation's preservative system, utilizing the U.S. Pharmacopoeia Anti-Microbial Preservative Effectiveness Study protocol.
- COLOR STABILITY The color of a product can change with time or when subjected to various light sources, such as UV or fluorescent light. Utilizing a spectrometer, an analytic value is assigned to the color of a product, then the sample is submitted to a variety of light sources via a specifically designed light box. At the end of the test cycle, the spectrometer re-reads the sample and evaluates the color stability.
-
AROMA STABILITY While different key ingredients can react with fragrance over time, this test determines if the fragrance of the formulation is maintained throughout the expected life of the product.
- PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS outlines the acceptable ranges for pH, viscosity, color, aroma, consistency, etc. for evaluating each production batch by to insure consistency time after time.
